WHAT IS ACTIVTIES.DIRECT?
This site was created by professionals, who have worked in the holiday letting and event industry for a long time. Having helped organise various hen parties and other events, it became apparent to us that the event organisers were struggling to find activities, catering, entertainment, hire and transport for their events online.
This is because big Hen and Stag Party agencies and other big event sites fill the first pages of google and one-man bands find it difficult to be found online. The big agencies and many sites charge the providers big fees for you to advertise your stag or hen activity or advertise your catering business and, as a result, the providers may need to increase their prices or work at a much lower fee than their talent commands!
Many event organisers may not live in the area they are organising the event in, so they do not know local providers and may struggle to find them without a huge amount of effort. Word of mouth works locally but not so well with people coming from out-of-town. We wanted to create a place where customers could find all the talented, reliable and all-round brilliant service providers we have met!
As well as being place to advertise your catering business or hot tube hire service, we also want to encourage individuals to use this platform to try something new to find extra income. If you are a great bartender, why not also do gigs as a mixologist for hen parties? If you know your wines, why not offer a wine tasting for corporate customers? Get paid by singing at someones wedding! If you run a taxi firm, get yourself some large-group bookings! If you have a skill or an exciting company that maybe good for events, use this platform as a chance to try it out.
We act as a platform where you can advertise your activity, catering, entertainment, hire or transport business and the customers can find you - that's it. We don't get involved in the booking process. It's easier to get customers if you have an existing business and reviews, but we understand that everyone starts somewhere. ABOUT LISTING
We at activities.direct approve all listings before they go live and will do our utmost best to keep the sites reputation in tact and have only brilliant providers on the site!. We do not act as a booking platform, but you will organise the payment and booking process directly with the customer.
It's very easy to create a listing at Activities Direct to advertise your hen party activity or other event service. Just click the 'add listing' button at the top right hand of the header, choose your package, create your account and follow the instructions to create a listing. You will be asked details of your business, such as email / web-address and examples of what you offer. Our admin team will review the listing and off to the wide web you go! Any issues or questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
Currently our price is only £49.99 for 1-year subscription or you can pay £99.99 for 5 listings on the site. We are doing an introductory offer of £14,99 for a year to our first 2000 providers! There is no commission on the bookings you get from leads. Sound good?
If you are a catering company that does breakfast, BBQ and afternoon tea - you can only have one listing and list yourself under all appropriate catering types. However if you are a magician and a mixologist and also run a taxi company - then you would need 3 separate listings.
Because we only operate as a place for your to advertise your event business and don't operate as a booking platform, we and the customers need some assurance that you operate a legitimate business. That's why we ask everyone to have a web-address on their site, so that we can establish online presence. This could be a link to your Facebook page, if you don't have your own site yet or to another site, where you offer your services. A web-site need not be complicated - for a small service provider, something simple will do. If you need help or want us to create a site for you - please get in touch.
We will take any reports of fraud or misleading listing seriously and hold the right to not publish or delete any listings that we deem may pose a risk to the site users. We want this site to have a good reputation and be a place for brilliant local providers to advertise their event business.
TOP TIPS
Web-site and existing reviews To advertise your event business with success, it will help to have a professional web-site and existing reviews on google, or other platforms.. If you are just starting out, you can create a Facebook business page or a simple web-site to showcase what you do. Take some nice photos and tell the customer what you can offer them.
Payments We understand that most providers wish to at least take a deposit before booking the dates for the customer. We recommend to our customers that they pay this by credit card. We recommend that you ask to get paid the full amount at the latest on the day of the event, to make sure you don't have to chase for unpaid invoices. There are plenty of great and easy-to-set-up platforms like PayPal and Stripe that will allow you to be able to take card payments.
Terms and Conditions It's important to have terms and conditions. This forms the legal basis of what you promise and not promise to provide the customer. It will also detail out your cancellation policy (for example what is the latest day the customers would need to cancel to get a refund etc.). Get help from a solicitor or do research to see what kind of things you should include in your terms.
Insurance
If you are just starting out, please make sure you have public liability insurance for your business. It's easy to obtain online and should only take minutes. Depending on what you do, the cost generally isn't very much either!
